A LITTLE ABOUT ME

My youth was spent living and traveling throughout Europe where I was influenced by the design and folk cultures I was exposed to at a young age. From the embroidery on my German dirndl to the Marimekko dresses I wore in Finland, I have always been attracted to color and pattern.

Now, I wake up in my San Francisco apartment on the hill, and often start sketching before the sun comes up. I am inspired by so many pattern-lovers and female artists before me…Vera Neumann, Helen Frankenthaler, and Sonia Delaunay to name just a few. These women wanted to see the world in new ways, and there is a certain sense of optimism in that.

In every decade patterns bring joy, no matter the state of the world around us. It’s hard not to feel hopeful when you look at patterns and I hope I can bring more of that joy into the world.

If you are a pattern lover you are a friend of mine.
