I wake up early in the morning, make my coffee, and start drawing as the sun comes up. I feel inspired by so many pattern-lovers before me…Ray Eames, Rosita Missoni, Maija Isola of Marimekko. These women wanted us to see the world in new ways. There is a certain sense of optimism in that.

In every decade, patterns bring joy. No matter the state of the world around us, it’s hard not to feel hopeful when you look at patterns. It’s why I can’t stop creating them for everything from huge neighborhood murals, to tiny children’s clothes.
